Spooky!

For the next few posts I’ll be working on models with over-sized heads and short baby-like limbs. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking Chibi style. Super Dungeon Explore (SDE) is a fun board game reminiscent of the old school video game, Baldur’s Gate. It’s silly, fast paced and full of really adorable models. Enter at you own peril!

About two weeks ago I purchased the Von Drakk Manor expansion set for SDE and have been trying to squeeze in as much painting as possible (which never seems to be enough). Out of all the sets that have been released this one’s is the best. C’mon, who doesn’t like vampires, witches and skeletons?

Like this fella here, the Dust Mage. This was great to figure out my color palette. There’s something about secondary colors (orange, green, purple) together that scream Halloween to me. So that’s where I’m going with this set. Lot’s of bright colors balanced with warm earth tones.

The nice thing about this set is that it’s not all just skeletons. There’s a huge variety of cute and unique models in the box, like the Miserable Toad. When I saw this little shit I had to paint it asap. I mean look at him… adorable!
Anyhoo, that’s what I’ve been up to recently. Stay tuned for some shots of the rest of this set as it comes along. Peace out kiddies!
Loving the paintjob on the skellys! I agree with you about the Halloween colors. They’re so adorably evil! Good job man.
Thanks Vinny! I’ve given myself a pretty tight deadline to finish these up or else they’ll never get done. You can expect the final products by the end of May… maybe. 😀
